Telefon Genggam Murah Jadi Pengganti Warnet

JAKARTA - Telefon genggam yang makin murah dan sudah bisa terhubung ke internet merupakan salah satu hal pemicu pertumbuhan pengguna internet. Akses internet melalui telefon genggam pun kini telah mencapai jumlah 62 persen, dan mengukuhkannya sebagai pengganti peran warnet (warung internet).

Hal itu diketahui berdasarkan survei Yahoo Net Index dengan sekira 3.365 responden. Survei tersebut dilakukan di kota-kota besar seperti Jabodetabek, Surabaya, Bandung, Medan, Semarang, Palembang, Makassar, Yogyakarta dan Denpasar.

Hasil riset juga menunjukkan bahwa waktu yang dihabiskan pengguna untuk akses internet melalui telefon genggam telah meningkat. Pada 2011 akses ini dilakukan selama 8 jam per pekan, sedangkan tahun ini menjadi 10 jam per pekan.

Tidak dapat dipungkiri, sekarang ini merupakan era smartphone dengan maraknya berbagai produk Android. Tapi menurut Technical Advisor TNS Indonesia, Hansel Savla, saat ini yang paling berperan dalam pertumbuhan akses internet mobile justru feature phone. "Feature phone murah. Ini yang membuat banyak akses internet dilakukan via mobile," ujarnya.

"Di Indonesia kita bisa melihat hal ini, salah satunya adalah pada feature phone dari Nexian," imbuhnya.

Mengutip riset International Data Corporation (IDC), Savla mengungkap pengakses internet dari perangkat mobile diprediksi meningkat. "16 juta pengguna diharapkan menggunakan Internet dalam 3 tahun ke depan, sebagian besar mengaksesnya melalui perangkat mobile," paparnya.

Dari Berbagi ke Pribadi
Perubahan alat pengakses internet dari warnet menjadi telefon genggam ini, menurut Savla menandai pergeseran tren dari model shared access (bersama) ke private access (pribadi). Orang yang mengakses internet melalui telefon genggam pun kini melakukan akses dengan tujuan yang lebih variatif.

"Dulu karena mobile data masih mahal dan akses internet ke rumah sulit, orang mengandalkan Internet Cafe. Tapi hal tersebut semakin menurun, kini orang banyak mengakses internet menggunakan mobile phone," paparnya.

"Dalam tiga tahun terakhir pun, terlihat perkembangan dalam jumlah orang yang mengakses internet dari rumah," imbuhnya.

Meski feature phone sedang dominan, dalam dua sampai tiga tahun ke depan, smartphone diprediksi akan meningkat. Kepemillikan smartphone pun selanjutnya akan banyak berperan dalam mendorong pertumbuhan pengguna internet. "Melihat booming Android saat ini, akan semakin banyak pengguna internet yang aktif," pungkas Savla. (yhw)
